only understanding sarcasm and such when its family?

I seem to only be able to get sarcasm when my family are doing it, like i can tell almost right away that my mother or my sister are being sarcastic but if a friend or someone in a class is i dont get it at all, with of course consequences such as going to the wrong room because someone was apparently being sarcastic when they said it was that room and so on.


why is this the case? why do i only get it when my family do it? hell i can do sarcasm towards my family, but in public i just cant get the tone right, its like i forget how sarcasm is supposed to sound
