Does anyone else have a problem where they think everyone is thinking about them and criticizing them, yet they know that certainly isn't the case and no one cares? It's a problem with cognitive empathy I have.

Paranoid that nearly everyone talks bad about you behind your back? All the time. Sadly, I have overheard one former friend's dad call me "so boring", and two former co-workers at Papa John's ask "what does bamsaidthelady do?" (the manager gave me less than 10 hours a week roughly once a week. A person with other options would have quit)

Along with classmates avoiding me.....it's not getting any better. I constantly wish I could just accept being a "grumpy" loner, but I want friends and a gf....

I have that problem too. I think all my friends secretly hate me, or only include me in their group out of pity. I know rationally that if they hated me they wouldn't hang out with me since it's not like I'm rich or have connections, but I still get that feeling.

I guess it's important to remember that most other people think the same thing, so they're too worried about whether other people hate them to have energy to hate you unless you're actually evil.

Thanks for the responses. I think this is largely a consequence of not having permanent friends, at least for me.
