Does anyone ever wonder if their friends really like them?

I've had a few friends since I arrived at university, but sometimes get paranoia about whether they really like me, or are just putting up with me.
I should say that I am on a committee for a university society, and these friends are other committee members, so its not as if they could just ignore me if they really didn't like me.

The thing that makes me feel this is having heard people talk about others behind their back - and wonder do they do that about me?

Anyone else feel like this at times?

All the time. And they might possibly be. But they possibly might not. There's no way you can tell. So it's not worth all the bother worrying. Just keep doing what you're doing.. if they don't like you then that's their problem. Ppl don't put up with others.. we as humans are far too selfish to do that for too long. Be as mercenary as you wish without hurting others - if they do the same it's ok because you're doing it too.

And they can ignore you just as well being on the commitee as not, don't think that ppl have to talk to eachother whilst working.

I have this problem too.

As long as I am not being treated badly or used or lied about etc, I generally don't mind being friends with people. I am very careful though not to tell people personal details about myself or to confide in them unless I am sure I can trust them.

Yes. And with me I'm pretty sure they didn't. I don't have friends now and I don't want any.

All the time. I have one friend who always seems to tell me whats he thinks I want to hear, and she has been known to b***h about people behind my back, altough I've been told that she never says anything nasty about me. As for everyone else, I can't help but wonder if they can even tolerate me being in the room.

qft. If your always thinking this then its surely gonna play a part in the way you treat others and feel around them, which is always gonna be bad.

....wait, so you mean to tell me you like posting stuff about your cat and interest but you sincerely dont want anyone to accept you and like you? I think your just trying to be nice by empathizing and bonding with the threadstarter, see, you dont always let this thought(of the threadstarter not liking you because of what you say) get in the way of trying to be a friend, your one complicated person soph
