Sometimes you need to know if it's in a work situation. But aside from that, it matters not.

This is literally impossible for someone with BPD. The abandonment issues coupled with a severe lack of trust makes you want to know so you can protect yourself. If anyone has a way to fix it, they are more knowledgeable than me.
