Live an imperfect life. I know that trying to have the perfect life to be the perfect role model is desirable, and good, but try to live an imperfect life. It's okay to be incorrect every once and a while. It's okay to be wrong. It's okay to be the one who doesn't make sense. And it's okay to be uncivilized while everyone else is more civilized. Trying too hard to live the perfect life will only hurt yourself and instead of making life easier, you make it more frustrating. Live an imperfect life, so that life is not demanding you to be better.

Quite right; as the old saying goes: "The perfect is the enemy of the good." My perfectionism has definitely been a handicap at times - it leads to too much procrastination and self-deprecation.

Beautifully said. (And if this is the goal - I win!)

Sounds like you are doing your own self-therapy there Zach.
And doing a very good job at that.

I am a fan of REBT (rational emotive behaviour therapy) and one of the 3 basic core beliefs which leads to distress is that we must be perfect or always be achieving and productive or else we are no good and unworthy.

To help undo this we need to think in a more rational way and understand that we are imperfect, have flaws and will not always be able to perform. We need to realise we are good enough as we are and still loveable.

You seem to be working you way through something very significant and healthy for your mental wellbeing at present. Keep up the good work and well done.

I think a mix of introspection and self awareness has produced some solid advice from you lately, Zach.
I'm enjoying and agreeing with what you say, more and more.

Sometimes I’m very put together in the way I live and act for a few weeks or so, because I’m trying hard...and BAM! I crash and become a normal human being (as if that were such a bad thing) I’m very hard on myself. Thank you for your inspiration!
