Hello, I'm new to this site and just been diagnosed.
Today I had a bit of a problem, I was wondering if anybody else's parents say things about your condition which seem strange to other people. I was trying to be as normal as possible with family friends. And it took all my energy, my dad went and said something private about sensory issues and I just wanted to cry so I went in my room and didn't say goodbye to anyone, I cried for half an hour. Who else can relate to this ?

My parents have learned not to say anything about my autism to anyone. People tend to become almost instantly patronizing if my autism is revealed to them.

It's the kiss of death to tell anyone unless you are in a situation with that kind of honesty would benefit you.
