Highschool is a time when adolescents are trying to fit in and at every cost. Most of them are afraid of being seen as a "Freak" so they resort to joining people who bully and often become one themselves.
However, it's harder for an autistic to join a group like that because:
1. We don't know how to socialize - E.G: Exchange numbers, use small talk,
2. Read social cues
3. Have body language that's off-putting
The best thing to do is look up appropriate topics that people are interested in along with asking people what their interests are while trying to show appreciation for them.
