What's a good timing for coming out to a friend/acquaintance?

I usually don't unless they are my close friend, it comes up in a conversation or I realise it will cause a problem (unless I explain some things). Like if I hang out with someone who is fidgety, I know it might trigger echopraxia.

Now when/how should I tell someone I'm dating? I'm thinking up front, first date as I tend to miss a lot of romantic cues. Also, I'm into woman if it changes anything.

And no, I'm not particularly concerned about people,in general, knowing.

I usually wait a year for friends/acquaintances unless I feel like there's an important reason to tell them sooner. That allows for you to get to know the person enough so it doesn't feel like you're telling them on a whim.

I'm not very good with dating advice so you'll have to have something else answer that, sorry.
