In need of attention?
Question: what kind of people are in (constant) need of attention? I wonder about this, since I've been having a conflict with a friend about her and her son (8 years). They both suck attention. The son very obvious, the friend in a more adult way. Both want to be on top, the first and the best all the time. They look very satisfied when they manage to be in such situations. They bully others, chase them, overrule them. They are fairly nice people though. For one day. If you don't push your own wishes too much.
The boy has been diagnosed with NLD (first), later with ADHD. He's not autistic in any way, according to both specialists. The mother has been told she may have ADHD (maybe histrionic personality disorder). No definite diagnosis. She considers herself ADHD and her son ADHD, maybe Asperger's.
I wonder if this attention sucking always wanna be the best, first, highest etc. is part of ADHD or is it some personality feature?
What are specific differences between ADHD and Asperger's? (I'm an Asperger.)
How do you keep the features apart and see them in a way it can be understood and dealt with?
