First let me say Im not cocky, I dont think Im better then people. In fact, Im kinda used to being the weakest person in weight lifting, worst in football, slowest in sprints (but average in distance!), a little below average grades.

Now, as far as social skills go Im not horribly clueless in situations. Everybody in my class at school makes fun of each other, but when I get made fun of I never know really what to do. So I just laugh and let it roll down my back. They stop and move on to the next person, and I join in. Thats about as far as it goes.

But I was put into an aspergers group. It was for high functioning aspies that have good coping skills. Iv got to say, compared to other aspies Iv adapted pretty well. Its sad to here how there outcasts at there school. But at the same time it makes my feel gratefull that I have all of the gifts of being an aspie along with being able to adapt so well and being the funny guy of my class that everybody likes!

Please dont look at this as me laughing at other people, im just saying, for once in my life, Iv done good at something!

(and Im supposed to have an IQ of 145 (which VERY many people have MUCH higher then that) but I really honest to god dont feel any smarter then anybody else. I think I may have lucked out on the IQ test!)

Why do we expect negatives when we receive a label?

To a degree, because we're taught to expect negative things when we're not the same as everyone else.

I remember one of my teachers in Graphic Design used to be a nurse. She decided she wanted to do something else, but she wasn't sure what she wanted to do. So, she had an aptitude test.

The people who gave the test were whispering all worried like as they entered the room. They were really concerned about the results, they said.

Her mathmatical and a few other "academic" skills were extremely poor. They were hesitant and how to tell her. In the end, the mentioned in an offhand sort of way, "You're creativity and spacial scores were through the roof, but we're really worried about these math problems . . ."

So, she decided to smile at the testers, and became a graphic designer. Definately one of the best teachers I've had.

But, if she had simply given in to the "Oh, I'm really bad at math? Oh, I can't do this either?" She might not have expected much of herself.

IQ means nothing if you can't spell and use punctuation.

Mine is 110 and it's, "Wow, I'm more advanced than I thought". The "I was" is superfluous.

It's not wrong to think you're better than everyone else, as long as you don't say that flat out. Pride isn't bad, it's what gets you through the days! :D

This is the Internet; it is generally unreasonable to expect perfect spelling, punctuation, and grammar. I am the ultimate Grammar Nazi and would very much like to send most of the world's population to my Grammar Aushwitz, but I set aside expectations of perfection in writing when I come online.

Chill out, buddy.

Agreed! I'm one of the few person in my group of friends that uses good grammer online. The rest are chatspeak addicts :P
I relate to you a lot Aspie_Rocker. I have a lot of friends because I've figured out ways to cope with my Aspergers, but it doesn't mean I don't have it. I still have a lot of struggles, and I have to work my butt off everyday still to keep the social cues I've learned in check.
