I know, the topic title sounds weird but I'll explain.

Sometimes I feel that I can't find fun in social life.

fun
1685, v., "to cheat, hoax," probably a variant of M.E. fon "befool" (c.1400), later "trick, hoax, practical joke," of uncertain origin. Stigmatized by Johnson as "a low cant word." Older sense is preserved in phrase to make fun of and funny money "counterfeit bills" (1938, though this may be more for the sake of the rhyme); sense of "amusement" is 1727. See also funny.

That's because social life is not fun, but very hard work.

I've often asked myself the same question.I have fun reading and listening to music, but when I'm asked out I'm incredibly uncomfortable the whole time and worried about where to look and what to say :? .

Social life, for us as aspies, is outside of who we are.
As a result, when we try to gain the benefits that Neurotypicals get through their style of fun in social interaction, we end up creating more sources of stress for us because we are seeking inner pleasure that involves nothing to do with our inner selves.

Ditto. Social outings/gatherings are not my idea of fun. They feel more like a chore.

Fun for me would be going online or reading my book called "Weird Weather"...spending time with my pets.

I find fun in doing things I like but without having a group of people to drag along with me.
e.g: going to the beach, having lunch out, going to see sports events.

I think I understand what you mean. I like to know what is going to be happening to me and what I'm supposed to be doing at any given time. When you are socialising you are supposed to be 'having fun' and this is too vague, its like, yes, but what am I supposed to be doing really?

When I first went to clubs I didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing. Its been better since I became more relaxed about dancing because thats a concrete thing I can do.

NT fun is boring.

my idea of entertainment is tromping through old graveyards (i'm a genealogist), long hours of research or data-mining, reading non-fiction historical accounts, writing when I have an idea of where I'm going, taking pictures of bizarre objects/places, rewatching the entire 7 seasons of TNG/DS9, etc.

Hell I can't even remember what's fun anymore :P

These are all things I do by myself. I'm having a difficult time conjuring up the "fun" things I do with others.

I used to tell my friends that i didn't believe in fun. Then they knew the truth.
