Hey everyone,

I am new to this forum and wanted to know what NT stood for.

In my head I think it is normal teens. But I really don't know.

I just see it pop up a lot in these forums and want to make sure I understand.

Neurotypical. People not on the autistic spectrum.

I loved the word when I learned it, less than a week ago. I always wanted a way to counter-label people.

There should be no labels, but its the only way to explain and help others understand. Just a few more for those of nyou who are new

ASD: Autism spectrum disorders are a range of developmental disorders / disabilities from mild to severe, characterized by communication problems, an inability to have normal social interactions and unusual behaviors.

Aspie: person who is on the Autism Spectrum (some of us prefer not to say if we are high functioning, low functioning, aspergers, autism...).

NT: Neuro typical - Just a way of indicating a person who is not on the Autism Spectrum, as there is no "normal" - we were all born as unique individuals.

The term 'neurotypical' is somewhat relative to the condition being talked about. For example, I am considered to be neurotypical on here, relative to aspies, but on a Tourettes syndrome forum I am not considered to be neurotypical because I have Tourettes syndrome.

Dodgy circuitry! Diagnosed: Tourette syndrome. Suspected: auditory processing disorder, synaesthesia. Also: social and organisation problems. Heteroromantic asexual (though still exploring)
