The feeling towards friends like they are family

Well apparently I have towards my friend who is a girl so its like a little sister to me though we are born in the same year. I am just wondering if its normal to have that feeling?

I don't know about normal, but I know what you mean. With my best friend, we consider each other family. We'll do anything we can to help each other.

Oh, of COURSE. It's veritably natural, especially for those of us who come from wholly NT families.

Well she has an older sister with severe autism so she understands me a lot. She is a NT though which I'm okay with.

I think it's normal. It's kind of a platonic love thing.

I wish I had something like that.

We call it whanua in NZ. A Maori term for your extended family. I'm lucky to have an amazing whanua over here who accept me quirks and all.

But i can tell you, if I felt like my friends were family, I wouldn't have any friends at all...
my family needs serious help

I used to feel like this, very close to my friends and even acquaintances as if they were family. I think boundaries are very hard to sort out as an aspie, so I was either much too distant or much too close to people and NTs can find both extremes very annoying.

Very natural.

Family didn't used to be as black and white as it is today.

In most peoples eyes Family are those you trust with your life and who will stick with you through thick and thin.

My best friend is my family. We even tell each other we love each other. Without her, I wouldn't be who I am. And I probably wouldn't be coping very well. She is very important. There are people who you find who love and accept you and help you, even when you are weird and even when no one knows why. That is true love... even if it isn't romantic love.

I love what I called my Planktonic friends. We meet on a cellular level.

i have a friend online and i feel like he's my second dad or somthing, i know he's like 30 odd but hes really helpfull and i really do see him that way, but... i know what you mean. it can feel unatural but... probably not.

My two rat mates seem like older siblings to me, and I get along better with them, than I do with my own family members.

i don't have that much friends nor really close friends, i'm very cautious when it comes to other people i don't trust easily so it's really hard to have that kind of a relationship.
