I am an aspie in one of the WORST types of housing areas, a trailer park. I HATE being 20 feet away from my neighbors, I hate having this feeling like people think I am some sort of creep because I don't come out of my house except to go to work and appointments. I hate the feeling of judgements and rumors going around, perhaps they, perhaps they aren't. I really hate the retired lady sitting on her porch across the street reading all day with nothing else to do except talk about what she sees. I never feel comfortable going out and working in the yard because I may offend the neighbor if a stray rock gets kicked out and hits the side of his house. I hate going to the mailboxes beause I may see someone and they'll want to talk to me. I can't stand the neighbor two houses down beause as soon as I get out of my car he will approach and want to start talking. I hate the old lady who looks out her window everytime I have a visitor. I just hate it. No real privacy at all.

Try living in an apartment building. It's just like a bunch of trailers stacked on top of each other. At least in a trailer, you don't get your neighbor's toilet overflowing onto your head! Seriously, I hope you can get out of there soon. These places remind me of those experiments with the rats, where they started eating each other when the cage got too crowded. Good luck surviving!

I have just come out about being autistic this year. Some people who used to think I was a creep seem to accept me now. Maybe posting an autism awareness symbol somewhere on you trailer might be in order (If it isn't against some stupid rule).

By accident I found that frequently if I spoke to someone when I was completely being myself they would quickly walk away from me. Sometimes I really don't want to speak to anyone so I tried deliberately to have them leave me alone by again really being myself. Well it worked-they walked away.

When this first started it wasn't deliberate. I don't think I said anything that was that weird. I am convinced it's part of the problem why I don't know how to make friends.

Why not try to talk to these people? Just for a short while. Let me know how it works. By the way I also live in a trailer park, but our trailers have wheels.

My two immediate neighbors rarely talk to me unless they need to pass along info or something or I say hi, but its the other people that drive me insane.

That doesn't make you weird, it makes you busy. I know what you're talking about though, somehow my neighbor knew my name, and i don't even know who he is. He yelled my name and said "hey you finally parked in the driveway." He is this fat guy who smokes with his shirt off 2 houses down. I was just like "yeah, I did" and then i drove off. I used to have this old lady across the street who would dig through our trash and she took a toilet from our yard that we were throwing away. The toilet is now on her front lawn and it's used as a flower planter. This was all in a normal neighborhood; I can't imagine what it's like in a trailor park. Good luck.
