I was always confused as to whether people laugh with me or at me? I know i say things sometime that seem out of the blue and people laugh at it, however I have learned how to laugh at it as well. Therefore are people laughing at me or with me? And since theres no way to not be who i am, how much should i care if it's either one?

If you're laughing yourself, everybody else is laughing WITH you automatically. No chance to laugh at you anymore :D
Don't mind if somebody laughs at you, it's great to make people laugh, even if it's not intentional.

OK, there are bad ways to laugh at somebody. But this kind of people will be annoying anyway, laughing or not they will treat you mean and you will try to avoid them.
For all the others I feel it's ok, they laugh at me once in a while. It even helps me, to keep seeing my life as a kind of tragic comedy, what in turn very often helped me out of seeing things to dark.

The one that used to confuse me the most was when a women (with a group of other women) look at you and then say something to the others after which they all look at you and burst out laughing, I always thought they were mocking me but it can actually mean one of them at least likes you 8O

I'm hopeless

PilotPirx, I really like your whole attitude.

I'm trying to teach my son to feel the way that you do. I think that he's catching on, and I think your outlook (if he can stick with it) will help him through a lot of potentially rough times.

Laugh, and the world laughs with you.
Cry, and the world laughs at you.

A good rule of thumb, I've found, is if you don't find it wrong, and find it funny yourself, or you tell them you're offended and they stop, they're laughing with you, or at least trying to. If you don't find it funny and mention it, and they brush off your concerns as being oversensitive, they're laughing at you and making excuses.
