Could someone reccommend good websites for meeting new people?

I'm interested in people to talk to via email or messenger, or in real life as appropriate. Guess right now I just need to talk to people, period.

I've been looking around for a site that helps with that.

meetup doesn't have much in my area unfortunately.

I don't have enough self-esteem or confidence to set up myspace or facebook (looks, feel boring, vulnerable, etc)

Is there anything else, or are they all based on your interests?

It's the freakin internet. Just be more confident, no one knows who you are.

I think here is a great place to meet knew people.
