I used to always tell people I was doing good when they asked me how a was and not much whe they asked me whats up (which I aways found annoying) and not understand why people could not continue the conversation. I learned from one of my teachers that communicating with people was like playing ping pong, you want to keep the ballgoing back and forth. Now I will try to randomly think of what I can say to keep a conversation going. I will point out I do not like small talk either. I like to get to the point. do not get much out of the conversations either.

That is extremely aspie like, my dear. Trouble with small talk is definitely a characteristic of Aspergers.

Small talk is nothing but a tiresome chore that we do to make the NT's happy. We live in their world, though, so it is a burden we must bear as well as we can.

I can talk for hours though if I am interested in the conversation is that still aspie? I will also point out I do enjoy talking to people.

I heard that when we (you, me, other aspies) talk for a long time that doesn't come over as natural NT talk.
We seem to "hog the conversation", "making it essentially a monologue".
As we tend to not notice boredom in others we think the conversation is going well and the other person is liking it.

This is all theoretical stuffto me, which NT's seem to greatly agree upon...
So I guess it's true.

Pretty much unless it's something I particularly care about, I really have no interest in small talk or conversations of any kind with anybody...sometimes even rarely with friends, as mean as that may sound :?
