I've had what you described several times with a friend too. I called her, but she was busy every time, or extremely tired. I didn't like what she did; the second time it happened I became really suspicious, I knew she was probably lying and didn't want to talk to me. So I confronted her with it, after having made several calls. She admitted that what she did wasn't that good. I think you have to tell your friend what is bugging you; maybe he doesn't dare calling you. It will probably get better after that.
