I definitely need time away from people, and lots of it. Some people seem to crave constant social interaction. My mother-in-law is a prime example. She is physically unable to not be engaging in mindless chit chat. She's like one of those Monty Python pepper pot ladies. It drives me nuts when she visits, because she MUST follow me around, trying to "help" with whatever I'm doing, and keeping me company. (Uh, what I'm doing is I'm standing in my kitchen and daydreaming. I don't want help with that.) I can engage in the chit chat for a minute or two, but after that, I start feeling like all of my cells are going to implode. And with her, you can't get away. If you get up to use the toilet, she'll wait for you, and continue her talk about the neighbor's geraniums, or the latest celebrity pedophile scandal in Britain, when you get back. You can't tune her out, either, because she stands really close and looks deep into your eyes as she speaks.

I basically hole myself up in my room and play video games nowadays. I'm tired of interacting with others because I don't want to have the risk of saying something stupid and end up being judged for it.

Do you guys ever... after a long period of interaction, you just want everyone to leave you alone? Where you could go days without interacting with anybody because it's just too much effort and you're not getting anything out of it?
Yes. It's like, "When is it going to be MY turn?" (Answer: Never.)

It's funny, when I feel the same way, everyone accuses me of being "incredibly selfish".

Pisses me off so bad.

When you play their games (and let them win every time) they're already doing you a huge favor, just letting you hang out. Now you want to top it off by asking them to play YOUR stupid game? How can you be so selfish? (The truth would shatter their perception of the universe. We can't have that. Best to shatter your worthless mind instead.)
