I've come to the conclusion that I operate at a slower rate than other people. I'm quite intelligent (I think?), but I am sloooooow.
Here's what I did today during the 6 hours that my kids were in school.
-Knit a sizable portion of the hood on a sweater for my youngest son
-Knit a few rows of a scarf for someone's Christmas gift, while watching a DVD
-Tore out the rows that I messed up because I was trying to watch a movie at the same time, and got distracted because I'm in love with
Alan Rickman and apparently can't knit and watch him in a movie at the same time.
-Gave up on the knitting and finished the movie
-Folded a load of laundry, put the easy bits away, and left the socks for later
-had some tea and toast
-put the clean dishes away and put some dirty dishes in the dishwasher
-swept the kitchen floor
-Attempted to put my knitting supplies away, but went to check the mail instead, and ended up looking at a Ross-Simons catalog and wondering at the fact that anyone would pay $30,000 for an ugly diamond bracelet.
-Went to grocery store for a new tin of hot cocoa powder
-Went to school early to meet with the principal about the fact that my son's teacher is refusing to get a clue about AS.
And that's it. That was my six hours. Is that a life? Well...yeah, it is. It's my life. If a person officially "has a life", what is it that they actually do? (Aside from working at a paying job) Once the kids are home, there's a lot of fetching snacks, helping with homework, and looking at things they want to show me, as well as a bit of computer stuff. I can't imagine where I'd fit in "socialize" on a regular basis.
