Well, Tim. Glad you asked. I have lived in the area for seven years now and there are a few good places. Sadly, not as many coffeeshops as should be. You may want to start with the Paseo district... home to several good places to eat, see art, drink coffee and other lovely things. Wayne Coyne of the band 'The flaming Lips' lives in that area. On Western avenue and also on Classen avenue are a lovely band of shops, hangouts, arts stores, sushibars, and venues. Those streets actually are near the Paseo district. There is also an asian district that butts up to the Paseo district and features an impressive asian market complete with orange palm trees and ample parking. Downtown Okc is nice, if you like painted statues of buffalo all around.
You can take northeast 10th street off I235 N. Head west on Ne10th st.
There is Java Dave's, a local coffee house. Farther west is Brown's bakery for some fantastic donuts and pastries, and then farther west on the same street is 'The grateful bean' . The 'bean' is an icecream parlor/ coffee shop in the old KAISER building. They make their own Ice cream on site there and have some pretty good lunches and coffees.
There is bricktown for the more clubby types of areas. Its much like the same ambience as the West end in Dallas. Hope that helps a little.
