I had a friend recently say how when he first met me he just thought I was a little nerdy and didn't even realize that i was "disabled".... I keep going over it again and again in my head and can't figure out if that was a compliment or an insult or is it all how i look at it? And situations like that have occured alot in my life....does anyone else know what i'm talking about?

I wouldn't take it as an insult, I doubt he meant it that way. And it is true - not being able to socialize smoothly is a disability that will handicap you in certain types of situations all your life. But there are many worse things you could have.

Don't take it as an insult. If it was me I'd take it as a compliment because it means they weren't prejudiced against me in any way from the start. I have to ask, though, are you a bit nerdy anyway or was it just their perception because of your asperger's or autism?

Disabled sure is a rude word, but I doubt your friend meant it as an insult. It's not as if NT people never show a lack of tact.
