Myers-briggs types & social skills
Here's a question for those who have taken the famous MBTI (Myer's Briggs Type Indicator)
Is your type matching who you are & how does your type aid or hinder social interactions
My type is ISTJ Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging
I am social to a degree but I do prefer time alone (An XBOX and I are excellent friends)

INFP, though the J/P balance is almost even and occasionally tests as J.

Wow, I am INFP as well, it seems to be rare. But more likely to be AS? My husband has AS, as does my 2 year old son (recently dx, also has SPD), and I came to this forum as a result. Reading all of this is making SO much sense, and making me think that I'm not entirely NT myself...I always thought it was my INFP type that made me "weird", but now I'm not so sure...

I see introverted & Intuitive being common here however, I think being introverted in general is rare (among the general population) as for NT people (I have Aspie like traits sometimes or that I just shutdown or spontaneously combust when things don't make sense or people don't act rationally or logically)
Interesting although I wonder if any E's might show up here or any SJ

One of the many MBTI threads that have been on here in the past; may be useful information.

My husband is an ESTJ - the total opposite of me. He NEEDS to think out loud to someone. It gets kind of exhausting!! LOL
Btw, he is an Aspie, but I think his extroverted nature HAS made it someone easier for him, at least in the social realm.
ENTP / ENFJ
I feel that is is pretty accurate. I might add however, I have changed drastically sense I was younger. As it states this test typically changes as your life goes on, so you need to take it a few times a year to maintain an accurate perspective of who you are...
I am defiantly happy with my personality type, especially sense it is one of the rarer personalities.
3.2% of the Earth are supposedly ENTP and 2.5% are said to be ENFJ
Big fan of individuality and being different

I happen to know an aspie who seems very extroverted (my ex girlfriend is that person) so it is possible & I sometimes need to think out loud (although I replay events in my head can't let anything really go which tends to get me in trouble as an ISTJ)
@Zane
ENTP/ENFJ are types that I don't think I have encountered then again I applaud individuality & being different (& yet sometimes I feel that I sucked into the crowd a la I feel that friends of mine are trying assimilate me into their hive mind)

Funny you should say that, I often worry about permanently merging into that hive mind as well. In fact it is possibly one of my greatest fears, being permanently stuck in one personality or mind set as opposed to being myself, original.
But then the epiphany came, I am always going to be me. And no matter how much progress I make, so long as I am not allowing my constant need for social acceptance to guide my actions and thoughts (peer pressure) all of the time, I am safe. That is why I take time to be by myself and recharge. In these times alone I think about what happened in the days before (reflection) and I find myself growing because of these new perspectives on myself and everyone around me.
Extroversion is a funny thing, I believe everyone is a little bit extroverted, the key is finding a way to bring it out of them or ideally teach the introvert to bring their extroverted side out on their own. We are all yin-yang people. Typically the AS nation is just more aware of their own personal imbalance.
I have come to find that by being myself 100% I am actually socially messed up. However once I applied the logical perspective acquired from observing my friends such as "using forks properly, shaving properly, personal hygiene, and learning social cue's such as when to leave and when to speak" I could naturally become if anything a better version of myself. Almost as if being myself 100% is Megaman, half robot, half boy where as when I add the lessons learned I can become Megaman X, the 100% robot...or myself in 2.0 form. I believe we are like computers, constantly upgrading ourselves. It is our jobs to analyze and adapt to the new technology of a social life much like say the conversion from Microsoft 98 to Microsoft 2000 to Windows Vista (I do not like vista but it is a decent reference).
Also I have learned we do not have to explain ourselves as much as we think, in fact although the thought process is more drawn out and thought about, typically NT and AS minds come to the same conclusions. Life creates experiences which in turn teaches us and also gives us perspective as well as something we can bond with others about. Extroversion is the ability to draw energy from others, or in my personal opinion, the ability to amplify the energy others give out by bringing more people together...like taking three people's separate energy and then mixing them all together making 3x1 as opposed to 1x1 1x1 and 1x1.
Also it is nice to be your first, sadly my personality type is not really done justice through online interaction, we are more fun in person

I can relate to that (trying to be a little extroverted but it doesn't seem to work out as well (I have a habit of getting too close to people (what can I say I am a caring person although that has been called into question). Extroverts in person are more fun although Introverts such as myself prefer the online discussion
@amazon_televsion
Being in the right frame of mind & in comfortable company I think helps out in social situations but I think that sometimes the situation (at least for me) may get a bit much especially when I don't know a lot of people & am afraid to approach them for fear of rejection

An INTP interesting although being an ISTJ not naturally withdrawn (I can be if I'm about to lose it) analytical yes I can be that (unless the issue involves women then that goes out the window), Private & controlled not always but when I have to be (actually we're quite close if you look at it but then again maybe not), Does being an INTP impair socialization when you desire it?
