I've faced that situation for something else and ignored it. I regret ignoring it because I'm pretty sure it was rude. Now if I say anything, it would just be weird. It was years ago.

I'd recommend starting with Thank You and then share the credit. Tell your teacher that you could not have achieved this success without her and your other teachers, that their professionalism, care and knowledge has really motivated you to push forward and have been a tremendous benefit to you.

Her letter commends you on an outstanding job. So, thank her for the acknowledgment and then commend her on an outstanding job.

And, by the way, I've done this with a teacher who helped my son back when an awful principal wanted to hold him back a grade. Reaching out to credit her for my son's success really meant a lot to her.

PS. Your post didn't seem like bragging to me.

I would just send a quick thank you note. If you thought she was a good teacher, a compliment is also in order.

If you are interested in further English study or need some sort of academic advice she could give, now may be a good time to ask.

Just say "Thanks". Mention that you enjoyed her class, as is shown by your outstanding grade.

Wow. I've never heard of a teacher expressing gratitude to a student for their efforts in class. Most of the time they begrudgingly "allow" you to be exempt....

I agree with everyone else that a simple note to say, "Thank you," and that you enjoyed the class would be sufficient.

Thank you guys! Now if only my algebra teacher would exempt me too lol.
