There are over 1700 Christian denominations. The most significant denominational difference, in terms of overall size, is between the Roman Catholic and Protestant views. Therefore, I will only comment on this particular difference.
The Roman Catholic Church believes:
1. That the way to salvation is through faith AND good works.
2. That ordained priests, formally educated in the history and interpretations of the Bible, are the only ones knowledgeable enough to properly interpret the "Word of God."
3. That the church can only be organized and directed by ordained priests.
The fundamental Protestant beliefs are:
1. That the way to salvation is by faith alone.
2. That every man has the right to interpret the Bible for himself.
3. That the church is the whole community of Christian believers.
