Both Canada and the US have a long history of doing this. This is the Wiki article on Canadian camps.
When I drove up north this summer, I went past an Indian reservation whose property abutted a penitentiary.
South Africa modeled their camps on Canadian reservations, and a lot of their apartheid policies on how Canada treated their natives.
So; habeas corpus is no more, Kelo v New London lets the government take your house and give it Wal Mart, government wiretaps you, international travel is becoming more and more restricted, carrying ID is becoming mandatory, SWAT teams killing people with unconstitutional no-knock raids over things as simple and petty as marijuana possession and parole violations, Obama, the former darling of the anti-war left now wants to invade Pakistan, top Democrats who campaigned on ending the Iraq war don't because they make money off of war machines...
Right from the get-go the US government was set up to provide business interests a licence to steal:
The new federal government, at the urging of the first Secretary of the Treasury, Alexander Hamilton, assumed the states' debt from the American Revolutionary War. In 1791 Hamilton convinced Congress to approve taxes on distilled spirits and carriages. Hamilton's reasons for the tax were several: he wanted to pay down the national debt, but justified the tax "more as a measure of social discipline than as a source of revenue."[1] But most importantly, Hamilton "wanted the tax imposed to advance and secure the power of the new federal government."[2]
The tax was designed so smaller distillers would pay by the gallon, while larger distillers (who could produce in volume) could take advantage of a flat fee. The net result was to affect smaller producers more than larger ones. Large producers were assessed a tax ranging from 7 to 18 cents per gallon. But Western settlers were short of cash to begin with and lacked any practical means to get their grain to market other than fermenting and distilling it into relatively portable distilled spirits, due to their distance from markets and the lack of good roads. Additionally, whiskey was often used among western farmers as a medium of exchange or as a barter good.
Same old, same old.
Your government, my government, they are all set up to legitimize theft and murder to further that theft. It's the mafia protection racket writ large, that's it, that's all.

So far, I think that Kurtz is more radical than he is crazy. I mean, he is not stumbling on "the truth" so much as just revealing some historical facts and in another thread he posted a link to some very anarchist rant. I dunno, I haven't seen a conspiracy theory out of him yet. Just a very radical view of things. Snake is more of a truth seeker in the way you speak of.
Okay, you had your rant. I'm going to have one of my own.

Yet I had incredible difficulty in bringing my attacker to justice because Immigration and Customs Enforcement is barred from working hand-in-hand with the local police (Thanks, pro-illegal immigration loudmouths!
I have a hard time believing that the government is out jailing, killing, and deporting innocent people without notice on a regular basis, when they so slow to pick up the ones who deserve it and lawfully warrant it, specifically because they're afraid of those allegations. At this point in time I have very little sympathy for people who get shot, tazered, or jailed for doing obviously illegal things. I only wish they'd shown up at his door, guns blazing.
Or maybe I'm just not rich enough to qualify for special protection.

I think they're set up to keep needed services running smoothly but they're exploited to serve the wealthy and conniving among us. I haven't bothered voting in seven years. Why bother? Even honest politicians are forced to use the same old manipulative, brainless rhetoric that the bad ones use, 'til nobody can tell the difference.

Did you look at the link though? That's what I was talking about, not Kurtz. I should have made that clearer.

). The guy was released out of jail after his sentence was over (without any warning to me), to go wander the streets and threaten to hunt me down and kill me, even though the crimes he committed revoked his visa and made him deportable. This happened because the cops aren't allowed to say "Here, ICE, come get this guy," because people are afraid that the police would start deporting all illegals. (To which my reply is... SO?) The only reason I'm safe today is because he himself in a fit of instability decided to leave the country of his own free will and he is barred from returning (well, through the checkpoints).

Sweet Jesus. That is so horrible.
This is the perverse reality of the world we live in. The problem is not immigration, the problem is that the law does not exist for the benefit of the governed. Every Senator and Congressman has an illegal gardener, smokes pot, has sex in bathrooms with old men for pocketchange, drives into lakes and leave their girlfriends for dead, that kind of thing.
Look at all of these half-measures people are proposing, it boils down to "I hate Mexicans" then later in the speech "I love Mexicans". The illegals are a huge asset to those in charge. A perpetual boogeyman, people who are ignored by law enforcement in favour of easy prey, aka YOU. They WANT discord, they WANT to delay or reverse any assimilation or understanding that make have taken place. Divide and conquer. They are an excuse for further clampdown.
Much lawlessness is encouraged by asinine drug laws that simply create black markets overnight, by the fact that they have to live in dodgy places, drive without insurance, associate with other criminals just to live.
The criminals keep finding new and better ways to evade the government's reach, and the ones that end up being subject to those rules that chase and never catch up is YOU. The people that want to do good, do what they're told, they are the ones who take the biggest hit.
It isn't the people sneaking in to mow lawns and live in garages that set policy. They are here because they are useful to the rulers.

I want to emphasize again that this is the exact point and purpose. DHS grants (aka stolen money from your pocket) are given to local law enforcement agencies to fight terrorism, and the Pentagon gives them sweetheart deals on used military arms to be used against citizens.
The thing is, this is NOT really a conspiracy at all, it's all out in the open, everything (I'm fairly sure, there IS a lot there, so it's just a turn of phrase) is a matter of public record, it's just that nobody really gives a crap. It's just a bunch of little things piled on top of each other that keeps growing, just the logical end result of a skewed beginning.

Why is that? It must be for a reason if it keeps going on! How does is it pay?
I don't vote either because it legitimizes the state. I think the general apathy most people feel towards government is a great thing. It means that many people don't want to push others around.
The government is like its money - don't take it at face value. First, the "government" is a pretty nebulous concept, fuzzy edges, like is the AMA part of the government? Their members get special exemptions from laws. I would call it "anyone who has legal authority over me".
It is not one single force of will, just a cancerous growth (think Cartman's Trapper Keeper) that absorbs things. There is conflict within the government, probably more there than anywhere in the private sector. It's like a big expanding ecosystem that is slowly eclipsing ours.
Each new curtailment of our liberty is then used as justification for the next, until we under their thumb.
Like paper money, government only has value because everyone says it has value. It's just paper.
Money is an abstract concept, and so is government.
To stop using paper money, use something else, like gold. You don't need to destroy the paper money.
You don't need to destroy the government.
In fact, that would be the worst thing that could happen right now. Each bombing, each shooting, each threat and act of violence used against the state is used as an excuse to clamp down, to accelerate the descent into dictatorship. This is not good, especially now. Unrest is their bread and butter.
You can only use bullets once, like lightbulbs, like cheap batteries.
If people start pulling stupid sh*t it will get a whole lot of us killed, and not the people that deserve it. This plays into the hands of those who would harm you. I can't stress this enough. They have those camps, they have the law on record that lets them make mass internments, police have been conducting exercises, this is a matter of very public policy, that FEMA, under the umbrella of the DHS, can force Mexicans into internment camps, what's called in the law "a mass migration" emergency. They're already in the US! They're just waiting with their hand over the switch, waiting for violence to emerge. They want the chaos to boil over so they can start the ball rolling on interning anyone who opposes them.
That's a horrible thing that happened to you, there's no excuse for that at all. There's also no excuse for a the people who took oaths to protect and serve to leave you twisting in the wind. You weren't harmed just once, but twice. That's why I'm so adamant about getting rid of the government, because it's all just a cruel joke you have to pay for at gunpoint, that teases you with the illusion that it is just more often than not. This doesn't mean that every cop is a brutal thug- they aren't until they act like one. It just means that he can act like one without too much repercussion. They are good and fair police officers if they are good and fair people. Police officers, like illegal immigrants, are de facto above and outside the law. Restraint is difficult when consequences are few and avoidable.
I'm really sorry.
