LOL - whenever I hear these management goofballs say "there is no "I" in team," I want to scream "And there is no "We" in team, either!!"
You are not spelling it wrong, but it is a coincidence that the 3 letters that spell lie (a very short word) come together in believe.
According to dictionary.com, the word came from the Middle English word
bileven:
[Origin: 1150–1200; ME bileven, equiv. to bi- be- + leven]
so originally, it contained the words 'bile' and 'even' (again, coincidences, I think, although some believers have a lot of gall).
Christmas is from Christmass, or the Mass (ceremony) of Christ. One s got chopped off, but it is still easy to see how that word was derrived. But in other cases, the way that we might break down a word is not related to where it came from, and trying to break it down leads to wrong ideas.
The people that irritate me to no end are from the Yahweh-ben-Yaweh cult. Their leader is in jail for murder, and they worship him as the messiah. They try to break words apart and put them together to support their ideas, but to anyone who has studied words, what they do makes no sense whatsoever. They might as well cut apart the letters in a parking ticket and re-arrange them to say "This is my pardon from the governor."
