Yeah, i'd dare say the problem was not you being insensative, that rather someone else was reading into it as a stereotype while infact it was a complaint about a pre-existing stereotype.

A few times it happened to me that someone was nice to me just to gain my trust, and then made fun of me in front of all their friends.
So this may be the reason why that girl is unfriendly. She is wary because she may have had an unpleasant experience in the past.
Just take it slow, and soon she will understand that you are a genuinely nice person. :)

Evil, you know why that is? With some people they probably for one have gone through some ish, they're bitter about it, like renaeden said they're probably guarded for some very understandable reasons, but even moreso being NT means they know the best way to have people's respect of actually have someone thing "Wow, they're cool!" isn't to be nice but to be real feisty, be hard to get to know, throw people zingers, and be ultra-critical. Those last 4 things are the one tool they still have and since it does a lot for em in terms of keeping people off their backs and gaining respect they just roll with it.

I don't think it matters what someone looks like or acts like (I am "geeky" but I think I am a nice person) I have met some friendly, understanding people who were hot and some who weren't, the same is true of people who are a**holes. They come in all shapes colors and geek levels IMHO.

That's something I think we can all agree on.

acting like a jerk is OK. Being stuck up and egotistical is not.

If some popular kid comes along and talks to me and acts like she/he's doing me a favour for talking to me this is an egotistical act on his/her part. Don't get me started on all the reasons why i think this way, but the short version is it makes the statement that there is only one way to be.

I'm probably preaching to the converted here.
