OK, we are large enough to have had one public suicide. And, as a community, to be shaken. I have to admit that I did not read this individual's posts as I have too much of that in my work life.
However, it seems we should have a system for people who become concerned to air their concerns and have them addressed. And for people who talk about suicide to be directed to more appropriate resources. Over 2000 members is quite a large community; time to think about this in more businesslike fashion.
There also needs to be a private venue (I suggest invitation only) for critical incident debriefing. In this venue you can help people with their feelings about the incident with the express understanding that nothing goes beyond the forum.
I would be willing to help with this. It needs to be done in such a way as that no one who uses, moderates or is an administrator on this site can be held responsible for such things.
It would involve some disclaimers and a person needing to read the terms and conditions before being able to register as a member.
Sorry I can't be more sympathetic - major symptom for me.
But I do want to help.
