No. I'll leave that to the most expert among us. It's only an estimate contest. I know it's HUGE inside, with many, many hallways and rooms, but it would be those who've watched most of the old series who would be in the best position to post a guess.

How does one apply square or even cubic footage to a hyper-dimensional Police booth?

One could give an easy, and equally correct answer, by measuring from the outside. I'd guess 9 square feet.

All measurements depend on the dimensional perspective of the observer. Everything is relative.

(That's a cool animation, BTW.)

Lovely animation.

Terrible question... sorry - you haven't watched Castrovalva?

The size of the tardis is in flux. It stores energy in rooms. You can burn a room (mass) to get energy.

The pool was jettisoned by Paradise Towers (it was leaking) but was back by the 2005 series, even if you never actually see it.

Variable. I personally reckon that in terms of pure volume, it has to be at least the size of a planet.

considering the insides have changed at least 3 times (and I didn't see but about 10% of the nearly 40 years of the episodes..;), I'd have a hard time...which version are we talking about? Pertwee, Davidson? that Movie version? the comeback one in the last 3 years?...;)

well imo i would have to say that it all has to do with the space-time continuum, therefore depending on the time, wether you take this as external or internal time which can differ greatly, as the different doctors must have some way of marking their time within the tardis, so that a paradox is unlikely to occur continuously with the presence of two or even more doctors at the same internal time , where was i oh yes right so if you take into account which doctor is present then it must lead to the assumption that the tardis relates it's dimensions to the point in space time that it is currently occupying on its internal timeline, or is it a singularity omg i do not know aaargh mind melt ...... lmao oh well i don't know maybe it's all just too much for a human mind, i want to go to gallifrey ....

Things that are known....

Tardises are Grown
Tardises are Living
Tardises are Telepathic

A new Tardis is primed with the Rassilon Imprimatur (only required once) - it exists in Time Lord biological makeup.

The rooms move around.

There are several different control rooms - at least 3 that I can think of.

One room has a fake sky, lots of grass and butterflies.

One room contains a pool which leaks.

The 25% of the Tardis architecture was Jettisoned in Castrovalva to provide enough ZIP to escape the big bang (hydrogen inrush - event one).

In the virgin books... well, best from Wiki...

Quote:
In the tie-in novels, the interior of the TARDIS has been known to contain an entire city (Cat's Cradle: Time's Crucible), used to encompass an entire parallel Earth (Blood Heat), and is big enough to dwarf Gallifrey itself when turned inside out (The Ancestor Cell). It is also seen to exist in multiple timelines.

I liked Castrovalva a lot. Ya, I remember about the rooms being converted to energy. As far as exactly when in time to measure it, I suppose the current size -- that of the new series -- would be most applicable.

That's pretty cool though: I didn't know it was the size of a planet. Man, no wonder Tegan got lost! 8O Or were the rooms moving then? Or did it have something to do with that troublesome "TARDIS-within-a-TARDIS" paradox, one of the most twisted and insane acts the Master ever did? He really is a loon.

I don't think the rooms were moving too much in castrovalva, I think Tegan just had no sense of direction.

The Master's little trick in Castrovalva was a repeat of a similar trick he did in the Time Monster (Jon Pertwee era) with only a few subtle differences.

ok so we know it can change size and that it dwarves gallifrey, does anyone know how big gallifrey is?
