The neurological disorder is permanent but our ability to deal with it will rise and fall with age, experience, stress and energy levels. I had a lot of serious social problems when I was young. Through my 20's and early 30's I learned how to work around many of my limitations and managed to start growing my circle of friends and even had a couple of romantic relationships. Then stress and exhaustion started to take their toll and I spent the last half of my 30's retreating from the social world.
