Great post, though the starbucks stuff worries me

I learnt to read very young, but I didn't realise it till I was shown a photograph of me reading a Reader's Digest magazine at the age of 3. My mum said I had started doing it properly when I was 1-2 years old. When I have children of my own, I would definately encourage them in similar ways.

I see nothing wrong in advancing a kids education if they're ready for it. What concerns me is that if people begin to expect their kids to be reading by 9mths, there's going to be some serious pressure applied and parental soul searching if they're not able to.

Sometimes people forget that kids develop at their own pace and that's okay.

my mom taught me ot read at 6 months and i love to read, when i was in first grade is when i got my first library card
