It's written by Alan Bisbort, who is one of those partisans who doesn't propose many actual solutions to problems but is extremely rabid (Donald Kaul comes closest to mind, followed by Emmet Tyrell Jr. (sp?)) in a paranoid fake-independent newspaper.

It's one of those things that I read because. . . well. . . it's there.

Anywhen, this article, and you will see why, is interesting:

I don't see anything too objectionable in that article. In fact, I'd say it's mostly accurate. Peanuts was an incredibly melancholy and dark strip, especially for its time. The main characters of Charlie Brown and Linus were deeply troubled and cursed with the adult ability to see and articulate their problems without having the first clue how to solve them. They tried repeatedly to become better than they were, but always failed.

Not to be too depressing, but I always thought it was a pretty good metaphor for AS. :) In fact, in many ways Linus is the Aspie poster child: intelligent and well-spoken, but withdrawn and having difficulty coping with some aspects of everyday life (note the security blanket).

The fact that Schulz was able to turn such bleak existentialism into something entertaining and funny is proof of his genius. Well, that and Snoopy. :)

Nothing wrong with the article.
My point is the description that they give of Schultz.

Sound familiar?

One time Sally asked Charlie Brown the name of Santa and she says the fat guy with the white beard in the red suit and he says why are you writing to my substitute math teacher.

Or my English teacher this year.
Round head, round body, white beard, jolly disposition. And soemthimes he wears red to school. . .
Everybody in the school seems to describe him as "the teacher who looks like Santa Clause"

Does the eye roll indicate sarcasm?
Did I point out something that's been blatantly obvious to everybody else?
Or something else even?
