The London-based Daily Mirror reported that the US President last year planned to attack the Arabic television station Al-Jazeera, which has its headquarters in Doha, the capital of Qatar, where US and British bombers were based.

That would have been an act of war against a country that is a strong ally in a hostile region. Also, Al Jazeera may be pro terrorist, but not nearly as much so as all the other fundamentalist government controlled news organizations in the region. Maybe bush muttered some remaked about bombing them when he was mad, but there's no way he would risk having that carried out.

I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but the Bush Administration is not known for its rational thinking nor its judiciousness. Nor even for democracy for that matter. "Ruthless," "coldblooded," and "stealing from the poor to give to the rich" sound more accurately descriptive.

But the Iraq War is a perfect example of a dumb plan to get Bush reelected. And now it's backfired and will likely lose Republican foothold for awhile.

Sounds strategically ret*d to me and yeah, I agree with Sean - it wouldn't happen. Funny thing about Al Jazeera being biased though, I was hearing that arround the time of the Iraqi elections and I'm guessing many others that the European news was even more biased than they were; suffice to say that with those 1 year presspasses I think the socialists are buying the airwaves over there.

So is that site kinda like an online Globe or Inquirer?

I hope so.

Unfortunately, the religious right are stong supporters of the Bush Administration and Republicans in general, and the religious right seems to be gaining members and power all the time.

Republicans in moderate to conservative areas shoud fair alright if they don't back Bush's more ambitious policies, and Democratic incumbents in moderate to liberal areas may have a herd time explaining their support for the war to their constituents. I'm not expecting too drastic of changes in 2006 and alot could change by 2008, so I don't think there are any good guesses as to what may hapen then.

While Bush may be getting villanized now, he may have a chance of being vindicated by history.

Change "Al-Jazeera" to "Air America" and I bet the story would still hold water.
