That you shouldn't get involved with discussions about intelligent design? yeah, I'd say he is right.

I wouldn't rule out intelligent design because personally I believe anything is possible. But there's no point in arguing about it, because real intelligent design wouldn't leave behind evidence of ever happening. It's better to move ahead with scientific study and leave the rest to personal faith.

In the meantime, I agree with that quote. If there's one thing all religions and philosophies have in common, it's the belief that we should all be excellent to each other.

I would be careful about religion. Some very religious people feel quite secure in the belief that people of a different religious belief don't deserve to be alive. A careful examination of various religions produces all sorts of strange and sometimes rather frightening beliefs.

It's pure religion. It's what comes before thought arrives. It's what we can't seem to achieve as human beings. Make fun of it all you want, Ragtime. It takes real courage to have these as ideals, and profess them. What doesn't take any courage at all is to abuse others, be cruel, obnoxious, and jaded about everything.

It also takes courage to accept the cold, hard truth when it slaps you in the face.

Yes, he is absolutely right, certainly helping people is a lot more important than trying to impose intelligent design and starting gay threads ;)
