Senate To Confirm ‘Yosemite Sam’ As U-N Ambassador
An exuberant Yosemite Sam celebrates his confirmation as U.S. Ambassador to the U-N.
WASHINGTON - In an interview on FNC’s “Dayside with Linda Vesser," President Bush said he was certain Senate Republican leaders would gather the necessary votes to confirm Yosemite Sam as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
Yosemite Sam, a beloved Warner Brothers cartoon character who has been hunting Bugs Bunny on TV for the last 60 years, was nominated by President Bush for U-N ambassador specifically because of his uncompromising and persistent nature.
“When the rest of the world thinks of American diplomacy, I want them to think of Yosemite Sam,” said Bush on Tuesday. “Yosemite is a high-temper, don’t take s**t from anyone, shoot-first type of guy. And that’s exactly why he will make such an excellent diplomat.”
Bush elaborated further on why he feels Yosemite will make such a fine UN ambassador.
“Yosemite knows, as I do, that diplomacy is not about making friends,” said Bush. “It’s about having the balls to use guns and explosives until you get your way.”
On Thursday the Senate was forced to put off the vote on Yosemite Sam’s nomination yet again after Democrats filibustered. The Democrats have accused Sam of being a ‘hot western blowhard’ whose ‘droopy moustache’ will only serve to damage U.S. relations with the United Nations.
When asked to comment on his ability to serve effectively as U-N ambassador, Yosemite Sam became defensive.
“I’m the roughest, toughest, he-man stuffiest hombre that ever crossed the Rio Grande,” said Yosemite. “And I ain’t no mamby pamby!”
Yosemite Sam is the first cartoon character to ever be nominated for a major U.S. diplomatic post.
