I've stopped worrying about looking completely normal. Even NTs seem to have little quirks in their walks, and it just makes me distinct. One thing I have definately improved on in the last couple of weeks though is my posture...I used to hunch or keep my head down when I walked..now I walk confident, tall and proud. Makes me feel better about myself.

I find that I walk in short, brief paces, sort of as if I was irritated. And my facial expression is always neutral or sad (unintentionally) so people commonly give me a wierd look like they are concerned about me.

If you want to learn how to walk cool, just watch the cartoon “Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids.”

Man, those kids had style when they walked!

I seem to walk with my own comfort in mind these days. Which means walking even funnier. I find that I'm more comfortable with my arms bent than straight down at my sides as most people hold them. For one thing its a more comfortable position and for another it greatly reduces the risk of an errant arm brushing another person.

I don't know if this can be considered "funny" but when I walk I look at the floor most times. I am usually in deep thoughts and walk with a fast pace. And I don't swing my arms too, but that's because I hide my hand in my pockets. ;)

My Aspie friend has always walked "funny" but I just realized it was linked to his being Aspie. He walks quickly, with his head down and his shoulders up. He looks uncomfortable. When I say hi to him or try to get his attention he glances at me and mumbles. He doesn't stop walking. I'm so used to it, I guess I just assumed he always had somewhere to go.

I used to walk like that and react like that whenever someone talked to me. These days I make an effort to stand up straight. And I have learned some "scripts" to say if someone says hello.
