Haven't taken anything besides medicine, caffiene and alcohol but I'm interested in ayahuasca.

If you haven't taken LSD, then don't, my own mind was too f**** over by this stuff, back in the 80's, when I had someone put it in my drink at a party, it didn't enlighten me, it put me in the hospital when I tried to kill myself, if anything it made my life a living hell which still effects me to this day, with some bad flashbacks and more hospital stays, I have post traumatic stress disorder, which was most likely caused by LSD, so even the thought of suggesting this drug as the answer to enlightenment, is nuts, and should not be even mentioned here. The problems with LSD or any other psychedelic drug, are to numerous, everything from extreme psychosis, flashbacks, convulsions.

There was, however, a pretty sizeable qualitative difference in effect just by the fact that you a) had never done it b) didn't know you were ingesting it and c) had no idea what was going on when it kicked in. When someone does that as a party joke to someone who's never done it its extremely dangerous and yeah, being that a person has no idea what to make of what's happening its really bad.

Most people with any common sense who do try it and want to try it rarely take more than either a hit or half a hit - its like beer or anything else, just a little gives you a body buzz and maybe a slight amount of colors and emotional/psychological effect - enough that most people could endure unless they're natural genetic chemistry is already tipped on the high end in that direction by default (hedging toward schizophrenia or the like). Not invalidating what you suffered, I have a feeling someone probably dumped at least a few drops and it could well have been mescaline if it was more visual. On a different parallel though I had my own horror story about psychiatric meds - lasted over 10 years, about as bad as your story about what the LSD did to you (maybe worse considering it revolved around ongoing pride issues certain psychiatrists had - stole the entire time from when I was 11 to 19 or 20, would never have ended if I hadn't wisened up), yet in the end I will admit that my own experience with that was not the norm and I understand that it went wrong because of people, circumstances, and not specifically because those particular meds are bad in general - they were just about the exact opposite of what I personally should have been on.

Yeah, I see it. Still thought it was worth giving my own angle as well.

Different paradigms though so there wasn't really that much overlap.

I'll try anything that will expand my consciousness, so to speak.

I drink regularly, I smoke grass on occasion, and I've dabbled with low-grade amphetamines. Strangely enough, the craziest high I've ever gotten was from overdosing on something completely legal: caffeine pills.

I'm also really into the idea of trying psychedelics, mainly to see how it would interact with my synesthesia.

I'm a curious kid, what can I say?

shrooms are a pretty easy psychedelic to start on. i'd advise to stay away from the amphetamines...they'll ruin your sleeping for life in the long run and you'll have to eventually get Rx downers just to get a semi-normal sleep schedule if you're lucky.

and i agree about the caffeine pills...i've had a couple times where i've been so f****d up on caffeine i actually thought "i shouldn't be out in public in this state..."

still wanna try DMT and i guess no one here has tried it? i'd be interested to hear some fellow aspies and their experience with it.

i agree with ska on the amphetamines, its ok if you only do them once in a blue moon at a party or something, but if you do to much of them it can lead to all kinds of physical health problems via lack of sleep.

mushrooms are a great place to start, do your research on them before you buy though so you know what your getting. lsd works great but due to its strength and its tendency to get stuck in your system i wouldn't really recommended it to anyone.

I actually had some DMT last night. Good ol' pineal gland. My dream was another thing though.
