I've heard that anout 1/3 of women are sexually harrassed, assualted or raped. This makes some sense. Construction workers and their cat whistles would fall under this heading. Most therefeore are likely minor instances of sexual harassment, The emphasis, of course, is on rape, a small fraction of this.

The 1 in 3 is true, but when they say 1 in 3 it is that 1 in 3 women will be raped in her lifetime. As for the skimpy clothes nonsense, over 90% of rapes are done by someone the victim new well, a friend, family member or someone they knew socially, less than 3% of rapes are strangers. And yes the whole drinking issue that everyone brought up is very real, as many men use alcohol as a means to commit date rape, knowing that the woman will be less likely to be able to fend him off or less able to know what is happening at the time. Let us not forget the problem with date rape drugs as well.
