You do realize that anyone who wants to become President has to at least appear to be a moderate. This will be true for both Obama or McCain and Presidents who will come after them. The reason we have seen landslide victories such as Nixon or Regan was largely because their opponents did not appear to be center enough. It is unlikely we'll see an overtly super conservative or a super-liberal President in the near future. See also the median voter model.
