Do you also find animated avatars, or other images, very irritating? Here is the solution.

(users of the ancient IE browser, please upgrade to Firefox first)

Switch of (or set to animate once) animated images in Firefox:

Quote:
Using about:config

In Mozilla Suite and Firefox:

1. In the Location Bar type "about:config" and hit Enter
2. Type "anim" in the Filter field (to quickly find the needed preference)
3. Double-click the image.animation_mode line and edit it to one of the following:

none — will prevent image animation
once — will let the image animate once
normal — will allow it to play over and over

Now close Firefox (or the Mozilla suite), and after restart the new setting will be applied.

Another solution for Firefox users is to use the "adblock" extension to eliminate the offending avatar entirely.
