I'll be honest, here is the only way I can think of McCain winning the presidency:

Secretly assassinate Barack Obama
Get massive plastic surgery to look like a black man half his age
Impersonate Barack Obama
Then ride on the Obama train

I mean, I could be wrong, but I tend to think that Americans don't want to be screwed over with another Republican.

I think you give them too much credit.

My first thought was that it's a damn stupid idea to pick an Alaskan as your running mate if you have a platform of cleaning up the old Washington politics and forging a bipartisan coalition. Why? Because Alaska has the most corrupt state government in the Union, and is extremely partisan- the Republican machine in Alaska, largely in the pockets of big oil interests active there, controls the government almost absolutely. If anyone bothers to do even the slightest bit of research, they'll see that an Alaskan politician is not the best choice for someone trying to promote the message McCain is spreading.

But he was going to lose anyways. Democrats are more excited about Obama than Republicans are about McCain.

I am a bit shocked that McCain didn't pick Ted Stevens as his running mate.

Sounds like a pretty good plan, and McCain's best bet.

A first from AG too.

I find this funny, for suggesting that the human race isn't dumber than a number of lizards and can put X and Y together when there is a relationship, I am now being attacked for giving mankind too much credit and charged with optimism. Perhaps, yes, mankind really is less competent than a number of creatures smaller than our own brain mass, however, I don't think I am so terrible for making that assumption. At least, it allows for more predictability to mankind than to go on an assumption of even greater stupidity.

I think on the bright side, if it does end up looking she's a knee-jerk reaction to gender a vice presidential debate would put that one to rest real quick. She is a good pick for the energy issue though and I think that's what the Republicans are really hoping will shine through.
