Names that appear in green

I have been told MrMark, Sinsboldly, Alex, and Lau are the only mods here but I have seen other names on here that are in green when I am browsing the forums. Does that mean they are mods too? I assume so or why would their names be green in the first place?

I know QM is a mod here too.

Tinky, Ed, and a few others. I think Green is the mod/admin color too.

I have been told that ed and others with green names (and some of whom are explicitly listed as mods) used to be mods or are still mods, but are no longer active in moderation.

Well thats really confusing. how do we know who is who then?

alex is the admin, and the mods are Quatermass, Lau, MrMark, and Sinsboldly.

Everyone else are just regular members, but some have been banned and the old protocol for identifying banned members (a special "Banned" rank with a red x) seems to have been abandoned, perhaps due to a few people adopting it as their custom rank and confusing people.

I wish we had a list somewhere of the current mods so that people, particulary newbies, don't get confused.

We have lists in several places, such as this thread. I agree it would be nice to put some info on mods in a permanent and obvious locations for new members.

Erm... the list of active moderators is in the MOD ATTN announcement, here, and it is kept up to date.

Copying that list anywhere else, such as into this thread, will confuse things, as it will not be updated.

There are, indeed, more mods than are present in that list, but they are generally not "active". I.e. if you PM any of the mods in the active list, you will get a response - often very quickly (assuming you spare a thought for the time zone). The non-active mods will occasionally sort out things and some are "on call" via Alex, should there be any major problem on the board.
