These studies must be wrong because everyone knows liberals are wimps and real men are conservatives. The liberal media strikes again! :P

After living in Colorado Springs, I can attest that some of that is true. Conservatives there are afraid on change, and scared of it as well. Hell, I would go as far as saying they were cowards. Many were for war and similar, but none (okay maybe a few) of them went for the military, not to mention they rarely speak up when someone is mistreated. On the other hand, I would try (Have heard Autism and AS bar you from service in US) to join the military when we leave Iraq, so I could fight in Afghanistan. However, I am easily startled, which makes the 1st study dubious in my eyes.

We recently reached a deal to leave Iraq by 2011, and the combat troops will be gone sometime in 2009. On top of that, Obama (almost certainly our next President) has stated that he would try to move the focus more to Afghanistan.

But at least they're happier.

What Chever said. And I'm not entirely certain that AS would bar you from military service anyways.

Does anyone know? I have tried before to find specific information about what exactly would disqualify someone from military service. I know that being a college student no longer cuts it if there happens to be a draft, though that seems unlikely with Iraq winding down and W leaving office soon. But if McCain manages to get in through some... er... "malfunctioning" voting machines, it might be something to worry about. I personally do not wish to join the military, and would be ill-suited for it anyways.

Individuals with conservative ideologies are happier than liberal-leaners, and new research pinpoints the reason: Conservatives rationalize social and economic inequalities.

The sad thing is, if we had remained focused on Afghanistan, bin Laden would be rotting in gitmo right now... and he's the one guy that actually deserves it for what he did...

In the USA, any condition that requires ongoing medication (unless that medication is antidepressants prescribed to front-line soldiers by a military physician/psychiatrist, of course) would disqualify someone, even if that person had a sought-after skill set and degree. That's about it.

However, if there is a draft, then NOTHING AT ALL disqualifies someone from military service. If they want you, they have you.
