That other god-belief thread has a fundamental flaw. Deists. Pantheists. Etc.

If you believe that God is the Universe or that God is Love, then congratulations! I'm no longer an atheist because I believe in the universe and I believe in love! Coupling those kinds of God-beliefs with the monotheistic personal God is ridiculous and extremely inaccurate.

Would the word deity be more appropriate considering that the word god is more of a title than a concept? I agree that the word god is also a concept yes, though considering that various religions have different titles for their deity, deity seems to be more precise and specific. I believe personally that as evolution progresses, we will ultimately become to less evolved species what our ancestors considered deities in the past. I suppose the term deity may be just another form to associate the concept. Ultimately, I believe the infinite Universe is the greatest creative force that ever was, is, and will be.

The only reason god exists is because of human insecurity. Instead of just saying I dont know to questions about the universe and the world around us people replace I dont know with god and feel secure because they have explained everything.
