Today I was walking on my way to the library (where I am now), and I heard this distorted voice coming at me on the wind. "Is that a dude with a PA system?" I asked myself. It was. There was this middle-aged Caribbean guy dressed in black standing at the corner of a strip mall parking lot on the other side of the street. At first I was under the impression that he was making a commercial sales pitch of some kind (something like that happened before), but then I found out he was trying to sell Jesus.

I ambled around trying to figure out what to do. Finally I stood at the corner of the Walgreen's building and stared for a few seconds, then cupped my hands around my mouth and shouted "HAIL SATAN" loud and clear, directly at him. He stopped and stared and I ran away laughing.

What do these people believe they are going to accomplish preaching mainly at motorists who probably have their windows rolled up?

LOL street preachers

You have to be the most pathetic person i've ever heard of... I had a shred of respect for you before you told me that you 'ran away laughing'... anyone who doesn't have the balls to stand up for what they believe in is a total tool of someone else.. that's a huge sign right there.. if you had of told him to his face then you may have been sending a message.. but you ran away laughing, meaning you think you accomplished something quite clever, but you were hiding from being ridiculed because you know how fucking lame you are deep down.

Just live and let live. If they pop me a brochure about their church in their hands, I just accept it, let the guy go on with his work and drop the brochure in the nearest bin. I got one from Scientology Church recently, I must admit out of curiosity I peeked into it before throwing it away. I dont have a problem with street preachers, just let them do their thing and ignore them.

I have once encountered a nice one in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I passed a street and on the corner was a catholic priest preaching. I politely refused when he asked me for a prayer. I walked on, and at the other end of the same street a protestant preacher was speaking. That is what I call competition! 8)

The irony of that situation is that if Jesus were around to see that street preacher, he would have probably walked up and bitch-slapped him or something (well, okay, not something physical, but somehow that street preacher would have been owned really hard at the end of it all...)

If I saw someone like that, I would probably start quoting Matthew to him... either he would back down, caught in his own fallacy, or would yell even louder and really start to sound even more like a lunatic...

Perhaps believers can stand up for what they believe in by example instead of preaching on the street corner.

Ah yes, that brings back memories. When I was in college in the midwest a few decades ago, there were such creatures - Brother Max, Brother Jed, Sister Cindy, etc. Cindy used to be a roller-disco queen sinner until she saw the light.

Those clowns would travel to the college campuses up north when it was warm to put on their insult the students show, and when it got cold, they went south to raise money in nursing homes.

Awesome, you've just reminded me of the yearly "God Hates Fags" rally that that Phelps guy would hold every year on the campus of Casper College to "celebrate" the anniversary of Matthew Shepherd's death. I went the same middle and high school as Matt, and they'd demonstrate on the campus of the community college in the same town. I'd have to give my pockets knives (yes, plural) to my friends when I knew they were there, because I really didn't want to get arrested for a stabbing assault, as worth it as it would have been.
