Getting Tax Dollars for being married and having children

It irks me to no end that people that have children and get married actually get bigger tax returns than they pay in many cases, while single people have to pay up to 40% of their income.

In addition, families usually use a great of taxpayer resources as well. Schools and safety laws are generally created for the purposes of educating and protecting children.

Shouldn't all people be given the same in taxes regardless of how any children they want? Shouldn't people be required to take care of their own children?

I'd assume that in the states, just like in Canada, schools are funded by property taxes rather than income taxes.

Yes, they are, meaning that IdahoAspie has a point: single people are still paying taxes to support the children of other people. School funding operates somewhat differently depending on the state you live in. Don't drag me into a discussion on school funding in Ohio is all I will say on that front.
