This is not in any way an excuse or justification for terrorists who randomly torture, maim and kill innocent people for religious or political purposes. But there has been much complaint on the part of the west that Muslims are not outspoken enough about the atrocities committed in the name of Islam.

And I am not trying to minimize the tragedy of terrorism for the people affected. I was in New York City when the twin towers were struck down and fully appreciate the horror and tragedy.

But the blow that was applied to the USA by the decay in morality of both the political and business systems is something that Bin Ladin could only dream of conferring. Business people have had more or less a free hand in financing corrupt lobbyists and the businesses devoted to finance have repeatedly put out financial instruments in fraudulent operations that have almost totally undermined the assumed integrity of the operations and pretty well destroyed the trust of the population in financial institutions. The presidency itself is placed within the candidate with the most funding and this funding does not come without commitments that undermine the integrity of the candidate. There are, at the moment several government officials in high offices who are identified as crooks and a like number of financial businessmen indicted for fraudulent operations involving millions and billions of dollars.

I brought up the Islamic terrorist operations because not much criticism has been openly and forcefully made in that community to stop the vicious operations. The same criticism can be made in the business community about their operations which continue in the same manner to attempt to undermine and destroy the basic integrity of the economic system for personal gain. Whatever the new president does the country and the world will suffer for years from the accepted operations of the business community and I see little resolve or open angry comment with force behind it within that community itself to change its ways.
And those operations have done far more damage to the country and the world than any terrorists have done.
