PM's not being sent

Recently I have been having interesting online conversations with a couple of memebers over the PM'ing system. However emails are going astray and not being sent although I followed the post procedeures. Also This happens to me when trying to post to some topics, a message box appears saying 'No Post Mode Specified' although If I try again It's usually successful in posting. It is a pain in the buttocks as I don't want to write a huge monologue about something and then have it deleted after all that work!

Sorry I just read over that and spotted a couple of mistakes. One is that I havent been specific.

When PM'ing, It says its been sent, it appears its been sent, but the member hasn't received it. This happens when replying but as far as I know not when actually sending a new message. I type in my reply and click send, it takes me back to the inbox and I assume that It has been sent. However the pther person doesn't recieve it

I just got the same one, and the sender was banned, its definitely a phishing scam.

I got one too, I figured some lady had really good taste.

Then I got a couple more. I think they're customizing them but they're getting the addresses screwed up.

One of them said: I'm looking for a canuck who likes ferrets and offends people.

The other one said: I'm looking for a skinny guy who shares my interests in rocks and sports cards and says weird stuff all the time.

although this is very interesting its not my problem lol.

no it has'nt, am I'm afraid that they are sending emails to me and me not receiving them. It has affected one other person that I know off who re-sent their email after three months of my non replying. I am having a riveting conversation with a fragile member and it would help if it could be solved. is there a way? Is there a specific admin I can contact?

You do keep saying "email". If you mean that, then we can't do anything about email, as that is not under WP control.

I'm pretty sure you mean the WP PM system. Any PM you actually send should be immediately visible in your "Out (unread)" folder. If the recipient reads it, it will move into your "Sent (read)" folder. You can save important PMs, (sent or received) in your "Save" folder. The PM will not disappear, even if the recipient deletes it. Your copy remains, until you delete it (or the folder overflows, when the oldest stuff will go first).

To avoid there being any chance of a PM vanishing, if this is happening regularly, for you, I'd suggest you temporarily copy what you are about to send somewhere else.

For example, you could Ctrl/A to select all your PM, then Ctrl/C to copy, and then do a Ctrl/V to drop that into a Notepad file, just until you are happy that the PM has gone out successfully.

Once you have hit "Submit", you can then look, to be certain it is shown in your "Out (unread)" folder.

If it isn't, you can just reverse the above copy process to send it again.

(Personally, in my browser, I would just open a second tab, to check it has got to that folder, then if it wasn't there, use my "Back" button to go back to the message text. Some browsers mess this up though, and lose the text.)

Finally, if you can tell him in some greater detail about when/who/how/where/etc you've had the problems, MrMark can look into the problem and/or pass it on to Alex.
