Okay, this is just a question in case anyone knows the answer: How do I take a screenshot on a laptop? My num lock button doesn't seem to activate the "print screen" button and I have no idea how to take a screenshot without using that button - or if it's even possible. I know the num lock works because I always accidently press it and start typing in numbers instead of letters  but it never seems to get the screenshot button to work... If anyone knows anything that might help then it would be appreciated.

There's software you can download that will do it. I remember Paint Shop Pro used to do it, but i havent used that program since its early incarnations. I'm not even sure if its still free.

To take a screenshot you push the print screen key once, and then go into an image program such as paint then click on the edit menu, then click paste that pastes the screenshot into paint.

Do you have an FN key? If you do, you might need to hold down that key.

That's exactly what I do but it never takes in image, so I go to paint and the paste option isn't clickable so it obviously doesn't take the screenshot.

I don't know what type of laptop that you have, but the one that I have has a separate Print Screen key that is not dependant on using the Numeric Lock key. I usually just prink screen, and then pasete into Photoshop.

Barring that, there is a version of GIMP that has been ported to Windows which is able to take screenshots. I've seen other screenshot Apps that are available, but sadly you have to pay for them. The Windows port of GIMP is still free as far as I know. Here's the link:

Nah, for me the print screen button is the same as insert and it's not shift operated, you need num lock on to get it to work. But pressing the Fn button works so it's all good. :)
